Within minutes of the release of the much-anticipated Relazione Finale, as well as a surprise address made by Pope Francis to the Synod Fathers, the media spin went into overdrive. Like most faithful Catholics, I will withhold any detailed comment on the document until an official translation has been provided. This is the beginning of a very dark time. Looking forward to your closer look at this mess, and the critiques of other thoughtful commentators. I have a very bad feeling from reading the translation of 5 or 6 paragraphs over on Rorate. And Francis' talk? I felt afraid when I read that.
