Let's pray for the dying! That The Almighty and Merciful God will sent His Spirit to them and inspire them to turn their faces to Him.
BarbaraAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2054853820111729866.post-19755891552119625012014-11-13T18:34:50.861+01:002014-11-13T18:34:50.861+01:00No need to apologize, dear Barbara. This is, in my opinion, a splendid example of what the early Church Fathers sometimes called praeparatio evangelica, i.e. the mysterious ways in which the Holy Spirit prepared the nations, each in their own manner, to receive the Gospel. Can there be any doubt that such practices were permitted by God for any other reason than this?

Indeed, there is no salvation outside God's Church. Nonetheless, I understand this dogma as applying, in the first instance, to those who, for whatever reason, reject God's Church and the truth she teaches. Such a one, tempted by the powers of hell to either abandon or refuse to enter the Ark of Salvation, needs to hear this dogma unrelentingly, for if he leaves her protection, or fails to request it, damnation awaits him. As for those who have never known the Catholic Church, I side with St. Paul, where he says, "For them that are without, God will judge" (1 Corinthians 5:13). It is imaginable that some, through the grace of God, have landed in Purgatory. I pray for such, in any event.Radical Catholichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04135335562951838761noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2054853820111729866.post-52377210557926924462014-11-13T15:20:47.095+01:002014-11-13T15:20:47.095+01:00Beautiful.

I believe it was Father de Smet who wrote of natives like this. He said God would send an Angel, a Missionary, or directly infuse the native's soul with what was needed to believe for salvation.
God does not mock us. He provides the grace for salvation to each one according to His Holy Mercy and Love for each.(To be taken up or refused, to be sure)
I believe, truly, there is no salvation outside the Catholic Church. But I also believe that God's Master Plan is perfect.
Isn't this the hope we must have: that God's Infinite Mercy will save the souls of our families, friends, and neighbours if we ask Him through Jesus? That He will send an Angel, a Missionary, or a direct infusion of actual grace of conversion before death?
I believe our prayers must be specific. And we must ask for the moon! He will give us everything we pray for - through the Infinite Merits of His Only Son.
Cheerful thoughts in this sad, terrifying time for our Church.
Sorry to blather on but with all that is happening I must remind myself of these truths or spend the day under the covers!!!
Barbara
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
